The May meeting of the Blount County Beekeepers Association will be on Monday, May 14, at 6:30 p.m. in the Blount County Library.

Ray McDonald, former Tennessee State Apiarist, will be our guest speaker for May. He will be speaking on the different breeds of bees and some of their characteristics, and he will also talk about newest findings in CCD.

There will also be time for some questions after each topic. Stephanie Tarwater will also give a brief talk about Africanized Bees and what we as beekeepers should be aware of, and how to talk to the public about Africanized bees.

As usual, we will have a session on seasonal management.

The meeting is free and open to the public. Invite your friends. Even if they’re not interested in beekeeping, they may have an interest in the importance of bees to all of us.
