Splits and swarms will be the main topics on the agenda of  the next meeting of the Blount County Beekeepers Association on Monday, April 8 at 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., in the Blount County Library.

Charlie Parton will demonstrate how to make a split and thus increase your apiary.

Doug Hardwick will discuss various methods of catching swarms and what you’re likely to encounter when you get a swarm call.

Beth Emeterio will lead the discussion on the season management portion of the program.

After a long winter, April will be a busy month for beekeepers in the area, so this month’s meeting will be full of information about what you need to do and think about for the months ahead.

As always, our meetings are free and open to the public. Invite a friend to come along with you. Even if the friend isn’t interested in becoming a beekeeper, we always have lively, friendly discussions about what we should be doing with our bees.
